ABOUT ALEX

Alexander Pete Puente was a spirited young man who counted his blessings, and never took his life for granted, no matter what was thrown at him.  His strength and perseverance are what made him so very unique, and what made people take notice of him, even before he lost his fight to cancer.  He was born January 13th in Dallas, Texas to Jana and Armando Puente (Sr.).  Growing up, Alex was a different, eccentric young man who had such very magnetic charm to him.  People who had only met him once in their lives always had a wonderful, lasting impression of him.

Before moving to Grand Prairie during his elementary school, Alex spent a good portion of his childhood in Oak Cliff.  During his senior year, no more than two weeks after his 18th birthday, he was put in ICU, and diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.  He did not let this affect his demeanor, and was still the same amazing, selfless young man he grew up as.  Regardless of his condition, he still valued and cherished his life, and never lost his faith.  He had a close connection with his brothers, Armando Puente Jr., and Anthony Joshua Puente.  He loved taking care of his little brother when he could, and they had quite a bond.  A couple of years after his older brother showed an interest and passion for music, Alex followed behind very strongly, and took up the bass, having a natural talent for the instrument.   They often jammed out, played together, and had a very tight bond.

Alex never gave up hope, and fought as hard as he could.  He had the support of family and friends, and brought the family as close as they had ever been.  His legacy will live on forever, and his memory won’t ever be forgotten.  He’s looked on as a symbol of strength, optimism, and love.  He never took advantage of anyone, or anything, and always appreciated what he had.  Alex, we will always cherish your memory, look back at the hard road you walked, and know that your footprints will leave an everlasting impression of happiness in our hearts.
